Christ the Victor has hired MD PRO to help us improve our website. They have provided us a checklist of content they’ll need from us in order to build us an amazing website. Tim Lee has graciously volunteered to take photos for our new website. If he should need assistance or asks you to pose for his photo, please accommodate with a smile.
We are looking for volunteers to fill many different positions in the church. Mostly, we need help making sure our Sunday morning services run smoothly. Please take a look at the positions below and prayerfully consider helping out on a rotating basis. Training will be provided. Contact the church office if interested. THIS IS A PLEA FOR HELP! WE REALLY, REALLY, NEED YOU!
Ushers: We need 1 Head Usher and 4 Assistant Ushers per service! In general, ushers assist with receiving the offering and dismissing people for communion. Occasionally you’ll need to help a person find a seat or adjust the thermostat in the sanctuary.
The Head Usher: The Head Usher is in charge of everything except conducting the actual service. The Head Usher assists with regular usher responsibilities, but will also be relied upon to address any situation from a person fainting during the service to “There’s a car on fire in the parking lot!” and everything in between. (Yes, Pastor Chase really had that happen one Sunday.) Because the Head Usher’s role is so important, we are hoping to have 2-3 Head Ushers for both the 8:00am and 9:30am service. They will also rotate, but for the sake of continuity, they will not rotate as often. If you think you are up for the challenge, please contact Pastor Chase directly.
Communion Assistants: We need 3 Communion Assistants each service! (No, they can’t also be serving as ushers at the same time!) The three Communion Assistants will assist the pastor in offering Christ’s body and blood to the congregation.
Greeters: Our aim is to have 2 Greeters per service. Greeters have the awesome opportunity to make Christ the Victor’s first impression on our guests. Many times, visitors make their decision of whether or not to return to a church based on their first impressions. As a Greeter, you have, arguably, the most important job on Sunday morning!
Prayer Chain Facilitator: Robin Rush is our new Prayer Chain Facilitator. Thank you, Robin!
Cantors: If you the Lord has blessed you with a strong voice, and you don’t mind using it for the edification and enjoyment of others, and are willing to lead us in the singing of the Kyrie and Hymn of Praise at the 8:00am service, we sorely need you!
A/V Operators: We need extra hands-on deck to help run the slides and camera, especially at our 9:30am service. No experience necessary. WE WILL TRAIN YOU BEFORE ASKING YOU TO DO IT ON YOUR OWN!
Altar Guild: Altar guild is in charge of preparing the altar for communion. They place the bread and wine on the altar before the service begins. They are also in charge of making sure we are prepared for baptisms when they are scheduled.
CHURCH OFFICE VOLUNTEERS
If you would like to volunteer in the church office, please contact Pastor Chase at [email protected] Training will be provided.
FOOD PANTRY— We need volunteers Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00am to assist with food distribution. Please see Connie or Tom at 7:30am on either Tuesday or Thursday.
VICTOR’S MEN meets at the conclusion of Men’s Bible Study 1st & 3rd Monday of the month. Please consider helping with small jobs around the church property. Since our regular custodian is on vacation, your help is very appreciated!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HIGHWAY CLEAN UP – watch for an announcement of our next clean up event!
NOISY OFFERING – Every 5th Sunday at both services
Noisy Offering is our opportunity to share the blessings that God has given us with a deserving ministry outside our church walls. Our Noisy Offering on October 30th will be collected and given to Operation Christmas Child to offset the postage needed in getting the shoeboxes to the children in need.
Check out the raffle! All proceeds go to the Shoebox ministry. Please mark November 12 on your calendar for the Packing Party and Breakfast!
Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission, Rock Point, AZ
The Mission serves the local community as a church, clinic, school, and community/cultural center. The remote and isolated location of Rock Point (40 miles SW of Four Corners) gives rise to the vital importance of the Mission as it reaches out to serve the needs of 2,600 Navajos living within a 10 mile radius.
House of Prayer is the congregation located on the Navajo Lutheran Mission campus, serving the Rock Point community as a center for spiritual learning and cultural dialog. Kate Adelman serves House of Prayer as local pastor and teacher. Community members assist with leadership and Navajo translation.
Hózhó Café, a ministry of House of Prayer, serves a warm meal daily, Monday – Friday, welcoming young and old to taste and see God’s abundance.
The Mission School is a private Christian school serving children from Kindergarten to sixth grade. When possible, upon registration, each child receives a backpack containing school supplies and a personal hygiene kit. The students often live in areas with limited to no access to electricity and/or water. The Mission addresses this need by providing showers for student use throughout the school year.
